How to Care for Your Quilted Linen Blanket
Caring for Your Quilted Linen Blanket
A Simple Guide for Lasting Softness
There’s something timeless and grounding about a well-made quilt. At Selah + Stone, our quilted linen blankets are designed to bring warmth, comfort, and beauty to your space for years to come. Made from 100% French Flax Linen and stonewashed for that effortlessly lived-in look, these heirloom-quality pieces are crafted to last—if cared for thoughtfully.
1. Wash Gently, With Intention
- Machine wash only on a gentle cycle (30°C max)
- Wash separately for the first wash to avoid lint transfer or dye bleeding
- Choose similar colours to maintain vibrancy over time
- Never hand wash or soak, as this may cause uneven wear, clumping or detergent staining
- Dry cleaning is totally fine as an alternative
- Avoid overfilling, as this can cause the detergent to sit in one place on the quilted blanket and cause detergent staining. If your washing machine is too small, consider a local laundromat with industrial sized washing machines
2. Choose the Right Detergent
- Use a gentle, liquid detergent—dilute by at least 50% with water before adding to your machine (even when using a front loader)
- Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, enzyme-based products, and optical brighteners
- Stick to eco-conscious, gentle formulas
3. Be Smart About Drying
- Tumble dry on a low setting to ensure even drying and prevent trapped moisture
- Avoid over-drying to protect the integrity of the fibres
- Line drying is not recommended. This can cause the dyes to bleed, and can leave watermarks and detergent staining due to the prolonged length on the line
4. Things to Avoid
- High heat cycles
- Leaving the quilt damp for extended periods
- Folding or storing it before it’s completely dry
A Note on Weight and Washing
Our 275gsm and 550gsm quilts are generously filled to offer beautiful drape and warmth—especially during the cooler months. While they are fully machine washable, make sure your machine can handle the quilt comfortably. If not, a visit to your local laundromat or professional dry cleaner is a great alternative.
Treat it Like an Heirloom
Linen is naturally durable and only gets softer with use. When cared for correctly, your quilt can offer many years of use—making it one of the smartest investments you can make in your bedding.
We believe every piece you bring into your home should carry a sense of ease, comfort, and timeless beauty.
We hope this guide helps you enjoy your quilted linen blanket for many seasons to come.
